What a beautiful morning!
I live in Houston, TX. If anyone has ever visited Houston, then you know that it’s almost always hot and muggy here.
On the rare occasion that the humidity is low and the temp is in the 60’s and 70’s, it’s almost a shame not to be outside.
So my wife and I have decided to go on an 8 mile run along a nice portion of Lake Houston.
But before we take off, I wanted to write about an experience I had yesterday.
Being that Houston is a very large city, we get some interesting seminars here in town.
One such seminar began yesterday… The 16th Howard Partridge Round Table.
One of the guest speakers was Bob Burg (author of The Go-Giver).
Bob is an enjoyable, animated, and thought provoking speaker.
But what struck me most about his presentation was the power of the thank you card.
I mean, how many people in the online world ever sends a thank you card after a purchase has been made?
I’ve been at this for 11 years and have never received 1… and I’ve purchased well over $500,000 in products over the years.
Now I want you to think about this for a moment…
Person buys your product or service.
Person receives a hand written thank you card in the mail. No selling, just a simple card.
A week later, person receives a second card in the mail that reminds them of the purchase, encourages consumption of that product, gives a secret bonus (or a box of cookies), and thanks them AGAIN.
A week later, person receives a third card with a tip to make their purchase with you more valuable and recommends a third party (affiliate) product that even further enhances the effectiveness of their purchase with you.
Do you think that your stick rate AND your affiliate promo might be just a bit more effective?
There are so many ways to plan this out.
The point is go offline and thank them.
I know I’m implementing this in my own business.

powerful idea. I’ve heard of something similar to this in Dan K’s work and I absolutely love the idea of merging the online and offline world experience for our customers.
