Fear… and welcome to 2010

by Keith Baxter on January 4, 2010

I’m back at work.

It’s a slow start this morning… so forgive me in advance for spelling and gramatical mistakes (see, I just made one).

I want to start this ‘first post of 2010′ addressing something I get from a lot of people.

I’m kinda dense at times, so I never really put this together (until now).

Fear.

It’s the great killer and the great motivator.

Here’s the story…

Over the holiday break, I was on the phone with an old friend of mine.

He was telling me that he’s within weeks of losing his job and needs to get something working for him real quick as he has a wife and 3 kids and the thought of starving wasn’t real appealing to him.

I think most of us can appreciate that.

So I gave him a system… a very simple system.

I gave him a spreadsheet that I pulled from Niche Horde, I told him to pick 10 topics, register 10 domains around those topics, build Wordpress blogs on those domains, have 5 articles written for each blog by Articlez.com based on those topics, and then get some links from Linkvana.

I also told him not to monetize these blogs for 4 weeks.

I then said that once this 4 week period was over, add the monetization piece.

Simple, right?

I mean, this is the mainstay of THE system that my lunch group talks about each week!

Btw, in case you are wondering what you can do after the 4 week’s is over… you can add the Goobert/Nanoblogger concept (home page, the 5 articles are content, and then begin regular blogging).

You can add Adsense.

You can add a home page with Amazon.

You can add a cloaked home page.

Whatever… the sky’s the limit.

But what was amazing was his reaction.

‘Keith, this isn’t going to work. I need something that will replace my income NOW!’

Huh?

Hey dumbass, I just gave you the keys to the kingdom and you let your FEAR of the unknown piss me off.

He was scared that if he spent the money (approx $50 per blog) that nothing would happen and that the money and time would have been wasted.

Reality check… sometimes things don’t work.

That’s the way BUSINESS works.

The fact is that if you let your fear guide you, you won’t do anything or even worse, you will jump from one thing to the next while looking for the elusive million dollar pot of gold (while it exists, it’s only available to Lepracons).

So make 2010 special.

Make a plan… give it at least 3 months to kick in… and FOLLOW IT without distractions.

I’ve got love for all of you and want to see you all succeed.

Keith

PS – You are seeing a crapload of promotions right now.

The only 2 that I’m supporting are the Magic Bullet promo and the Niche Blueprint 2.0 promo.

I’ve either been a part of or used both of these systems to a great extent.

Side story… When Niche Blueprint 1.0 came out, my partner and I built a site on expensive rugs. Within 1 month, we had a $600 order out of the blue with little to NO work on our part… just followed their plan and spent 15 min building a site.

Keith you are still 1 out of only 5 other people that I follow online now however, you are the one I have been following the longest – it’s been over 6 or 7 years now – Man! How time flies! Thanks for the blog and keeping it real.

Great post Keith.

I have relected and seen fear get in the way of a lot of my past goals and am making an effort to not allow fear to hold me back.

Thanks for the reminder to stay on this path.

Quick question about your post. Why do you say to wait 4 weeks before you monetize one of the sites?

Thanks again

James

You hit the nail on the head. Unfortunately fear does disturb your focus (I personally know this). However you do see that many marketers became very successful because of fear – in fact they used that as a way to focus. It is all about your own reaction to things.

By the way, agree with you about Niche Blueprint 2.0 as Tim and Steve always deliver. Also the pre launch material for Magic Bullet has been gold although again it needs to be acted upon.

Travis Robinson – We’ve broken bread a couple of times together, you will always be cool in my book.

James – 4 weeks is just a made up #, but should be accurately stated that once I’ve been indexed by Google. Once indexed, Goog seems more forgiving on monetized blogs as far as deep indexing. I know, there’s a LOT of viewpoints on this, but this is what I follow and it works.

Hey Keith

I’ve been watching the Videos on the Magic Bullet System from Amish and have been doing quite a bit of cpa marketing,
Can you tell me if the launch will include any tracking software as that is something I am having some difficulty with.
I realize that a good amount of money can be made with cpa but I also know that without tracking – you can lose your shirt in any of the traffic methods.

Thanks
Adriana

thanks for pointing out this VERY important piece of the puzzle. People don’t realize that this mindset is 90% of what’s standing in the way of seeing anything through to the end. Have an AWESOME New Year!

Thanks for the solid advice and reinforcing the idea that you have to set aside fear and take risks to succeed. Happy New Year.

Keith:
Great Post to start off 2010 with,
but did you really have to make
mince meat out of the leprechaun?

Besides if anyone would know how to
make $1 million online, in your first hour,
with no list, no work, and no previous skills
it would be a leprechaun. It’s only logical.

So I’ve revised my goal sheet to include,
no highly invested beliefs in any green magic
things except green food, to give me the proper
energy and focus to get Stealth Traffic Secrets
to turn into Stealth Banking Secrets….

Keith,

Big thanks for the motivation and great info!

Regarding the made-up 4 week number, is that also more for getting past any random Google human reviews rather than just waiting to be indexed (which seems to happens sooner)?
