SEO – Do captions on YouTube make a difference?

This video demonstrates why you should be adding captions to your YouTube videos.

Here’s a simple process that I use…

1. Create article

2. Create video, PDF, and Podcast from article

3. Submit video to YouTube. Include written article in caption. I also submit the video to 15 other sharing sites via Fiver. I use http://fiverr.com/virtualgirl2010/do-video-submission-to-22-video-sharing-sites-i-will-create-accounts-to-each-of-the-sites-please-see-feedback.

4. Get links to published article. I use http://fiverr.com/scrapebox_/create-atleast-15000-guaranteed-wordpress-comments-auto-approve-blogs-using-scrapebox.

5. Submit article to article samurai. I use http://fiverr.com/kapsco1/write-a-unique-300-word-article-and-article-samurai-it.

6. Submit podcast to podcast directories. Haven’t found a good Fiverr gig for this yet. Doing this one internally. If you have a good resource, then please post it in the comments section.

7. Submit PDF to document sharing sites. Here’s the gig I use for that http://fiverr.com/dipakdarji/upload-your-article-content-or-pdf-file-via-document-sharing-in-top-22-sites-including-docstoc-slideshares-scribd.

Next step…

Get traffic!

If you enjoyed this post, then I ask you to do 2 things…

1. Click the Facebook Like, Google +, or Tweet button to the left (all 3 would be appreciated).

2. Comment below and tell me you like this post and if you have other gig’s or resources that would compliment this, I would love to see them.

If we can get some traction on this, I may post some other articles like this in the near future. icon smile

Awesome tip man, thanks. Really great step by step mini course. I will have to put it to the test myself asap. Please keep this up. Love it.

Post your results or case studies. :-) I have a system that puts this on steroids… may talk about that one next. One minor tweak and this entire system makes testing everything quick and easy.

      • Paul January 2, 2012 at 8:08 am #

Would love to hear more on about putting this on steroids!

        Many thanks, great stuff.

Yea would love to hear more about putting it on steroids…

I have tons of articles and videos to get this process kicked off with, thanks so much for the Fiverr gigs (never thought of that even though Ive used Fiverr a dozen times!)

You da man Keith, anything YOU personally write I take to heart, been following you for almost a year now and bought several things from your aff links in the past which turned out to be worth it

    Hay Keith,

Great post, very interesting, will be taking action on this today, I will add some captions to existing videos on youtube and see what happens.

Question: In step 3 your say: “Submit video to YouTube. Include written article in caption”.

Do you mean add keywords as captions, rather than a whole article?

    Thanks,

    Dave

    • Keith January 2, 2012 at 7:32 am #

      I add the entire article.

      • Ed Orton January 2, 2012 at 7:42 am #

You add the entire article as a caption? Is that even possible?

      • Keith January 2, 2012 at 8:33 am #

        Yes

      • Dave January 2, 2012 at 9:33 am #

        Wow!

  3. Ed Orton January 2, 2012 at 7:34 am #

That’s a great system, except I’ve always felt it was a waste to create a Video from an article, do you really get any traffic from this type of video or are you just using it for the SEO value of the link in the video description?

What exactly do you do for the video?

    • Keith January 2, 2012 at 8:34 am #

SEO value. I haven’t seen any value from videos created from articles from a viral standpoint.

    Hi Keith
    Great valuable content as always.

Can you clarify something for me please. In the gig http://fiverr.com/scrapebox_/create-atleast-15000-guaranteed-wordpress-comments-auto-approve-blogs-using-scrapebox – do you not find that the huge number of comments can cause your rankings to suffer.

By this I mean how do you keep up this volume of backlinks unless you keep getting the same gig every month or so?

I for one would love to get more articles like this one posted in the future.

Many thanks again for your insights.

On new domains, this could be a problem.

On aged domains that also get press releases, .edu, and .gov links, this can create a nice IP diversity. I don’t find 15,000 to be excessive. The reality is that most won’t be recognized by Google (even if using an indexing service).

If using Parasite hosts, then 15,000 would be very conservative.

Great information Keith. Thanks a lot.

I can vouch that this method works incredibly well. I’ve been doing it without the Youtube Captions for a couple years now. I bet the Youtube Captions makes it even better.

Thanks Keith, this is why I shut up and listen when you’re talking!

    Hey Keith,

Just curious – but what tool do you use to transform your article into a video and PDF?

    • Keith January 3, 2012 at 6:35 am #

You can use Fiverr for that too. :-)

I’ve used article2video.com (very poor quality, but get’s the job done).

I’ve used stay at home moms with Camtasia.

I’ve also used Filipino’s with Camtasia.

I’ve used ‘Shobizbess’ plugin in the wayyy past, but not sure if that’s ever coming back.

So you are backlinking the article or published video?

This effort is largely just SEO to the article, not getting traffic via people watching the video or listening to the podcast?

Most these look pretty to integrate with …you know ;)

    Troy.

    • Keith January 3, 2012 at 6:36 am #

I’m backlinking the article… and video (I didn’t talk about creating the 2nd tier link structure, yet).

  11. Tim Thompson January 3, 2012 at 9:19 am #

Hey Keith, great info as usual.

I can’t remember if I told you but I own a small outsourcing company in Panama. If you need any help with repetitive tasks like you submit to Fiverr, let me know.

Also, they are “trainable” for wide variety of tasks.

I’m going to get them started on some of the tasks you listed above for a few of my sites.

    Thanks!

    Tim

What’s the easiest way to create captions for your videos if you are not doing videos of articles?

    • Brian Burke dating coach for men January 5, 2012 at 4:24 pm #

guess what? FIverr! there are lots of transcription gigs that will transcribe your videos (if that’s your starting point)

  13. Robin Buckley January 3, 2012 at 2:19 pm #

Nice stuff Keith. Looking forward to the 2nd tier .

  14. Alan McDonald January 5, 2012 at 7:28 pm #

Keith. I have never even thought of taking the time to put in the captions even though many of my videos are made from articles and posts where the info is already there to copy and paste. Love your stuff.
